2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp salt
3/4-1cup warm milk
1 TBSP shortening/butter, melted
Put warm milk, sugar
and yeast in bowl. Allow to sit for 10 minutes, or until frothy. Add melted shortening or butter, flour, baking powder and salt.
Form dough into balls and let rise. Once dough balls have doubled in size, roll out into round disks.
For Navajo fry bread, melt 1/2-1 cup shortening or oil until warm. Add dough and cook until done.- top with taco toppings.
For elephant ears, cook the same way, only top with brushed melted butter/cinnamon and sugar- powdered sugar, caramel, etc....
